A challenge such as this creates huge public and media interest and similar events in the past have generated substantial media coverage both at a national and regional level from a combination of newspapers, television and radio. The Atlantic Rowing Challenge in 2001 generated almost 3 million pounds worth of media interest.

Individuals can sponsor a mile for £10. The person whose mile I am in at midnight on New Year's Eve will win the raffle prizes.
